“Know Thyself” by Udo G. Cordes
A concrete row of buildings bridges
over the southern Gateway to the Friedrich Strasse, at the Sungate
sculpture by Niki de Saint Phalle. The artist Udo G. Cordes suggests
to install the words “Know Thyself" in ancient Greek
lettering on the outer façade of the buildings.
These guiding words are reminiscent
of the insignia that existed at the Delphi Oracle. The outer wall
of the building will serve as a canvas for a continuously changing
exhibition that will show the backs of the heads of prominent people.
